Joseph Suaalii confirms his participation in Wallabies spring tour in October; Sydney Roosters to face Penrith Panthers; Mark Nawaqanitawase also in action

21-year-old Sydney Roosters star Joseph Suaalii will be joining the Wallabies on their spring tour this year after signing a record-breaking $5 million deal with Rugby Australia. Despite the impending code-switch, Suaalii is focused on the NRL finals, with his team preparing for a qualifying final against the Panthers. He will not have to wait long to experience the rugby national team setup, as he will be part of the Wallabies’ spring tour.

It is not clear if Suaalii will be playing matches with the Wallabies or simply participating as a learning experience, but his inclusion highlights a desire to fast-track his development in rugby. Despite his impending departure, Suaalii has always maintained his commitment to the Roosters, with his impressive form earning him a spot in the State of Origin series earlier this year.

Suaalii, who made his NRL debut as a schoolboy prodigy, has learned and grown throughout the year, culminating in his upcoming finals match. He will enter the Wallabies fold at a challenging time, following a heavy defeat to Argentina. Suaalii, who has sought advice from teammate Mark Nawaqanitawase, is excited for the opportunity to play rugby at the highest level.

While Suaalii’s rugby contract extends for several years, he remains open to the possibility of returning to the NRL in the future. The Wallabies will be heading to the UK to play England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland at the end of October.
