Delta Airlines plane crashes on landing in Toronto

A Delta Airlines plane flipped upon arrival at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, injuring eight people, including a badly injured child. The incident involving the flight from Minneapolis left one passenger critically injured and seven others hurt. Emergency workers were seen hosing down the upside-down Mitsubishi CRJ-900LR that was covered in snow from a recent winter storm. Ornge air ambulance transported a pediatric patient to Toronto’s SickKids hospital and two critically injured adults to other hospitals in the city. The cause of the incident is still unknown but weather conditions, including blowing snow and strong winds, may have been a factor. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will lead the investigation. This recent aviation mishap marks the fourth major incident in North America in the past month, following fatal accidents in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Alaska. Delta Air Lines, the parent company of Endeavor Air operating the flight, stated they were aware of the incident. Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed relief that there were no casualties and stated that provincial officials are ready to assist as needed. Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta based in Minneapolis, operates numerous regional jets on daily flights across North America. The CRJ900 aircraft involved in the incident is part of the same family of planes as the one that was involved in the collision near Reagan National Airport in January.
