Friends of Merrymeeting Bay’s Winter Speaker Series continues with a presentation on Rosalie Edge, a pioneer of the environmental movement. The event will be held on March 17 via Zoom and led by author and journalist Dyana Furmansky. Rosalie Edge, known as the godmother of the modern environmental movement, played a key role in conservation efforts such as preserving sugar pines in Yosemite National Park and creating wildlife sanctuaries. Furmansky, who wrote a biography on Edge, will discuss her accomplishments and impact on conservation. The event is free and open to the public, with registration available on the organization’s website. Furmansky’s work has been recognized with awards for environmental writing, and she will provide insights into Edge’s legacy and work. For more information, contact Friends of Merrymeeting Bay.
