Fairfield Woman Charged with Theft of Thousands from Truck Stop

Fairfield Woman Indicted for Theft at Local Truck Stop

A 22-year-old Fairfield woman, Izabella Hartsfield, has been indicted for allegedly stealing over $10,000 while employed at the Irving and Circle K truck stop. Court records indicate that the indictment, returned by a Somerset County grand jury in April, charges Hartsfield with a Class B theft by unauthorized taking.

The alleged theft occurred on or around August 31, 2024, while Hartsfield was reportedly working at the truck stop located at 204 Center Road, off Exit 132 of Interstate 95. Investigations into the matter began following a complaint from truck stop management. Fairfield Police Officer Casey Dugas, the department spokesperson, confirmed that Hartsfield is a former employee and is accused of taking the cash during her shifts.

It’s important to note that an indictment is not a determination of guilt but rather suggests sufficient evidence exists for the case to proceed to trial. As of now, Hartsfield has not entered a plea, and her court-appointed attorney, Angela Jensen, did not respond to requests for comment.

The police investigation has concluded, and the case is now with the Somerset County district attorney’s office for prosecution. Officer Dugas refrained from providing additional details, indicating the case remains active. Hartsfield signed a summons for the theft charge on November 14, 2024, and prosecutors subsequently filed an initial complaint before the matter reached the grand jury.

Management at the truck stop declined to comment on the ongoing situation, citing company policy regarding press interactions. Attempts to reach Circle K’s corporate communications were unsuccessful. The community remains attentive as this case unfolds in the judicial system.
