Flames Engulf Tractor-Trailer in Turner Crash
TURNER, ME – A tractor-trailer was engulfed in flames following a crash on Route 4 Wednesday morning, leaving one driver injured. The incident occurred around 7:41 a.m. when an eastbound black 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by 51-year-old Fox Kein of Cornish, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a gray Western Star tractor-trailer driven by 82-year-old Roger Eastman of Milan, New Hampshire.
The impact ruptured the tractor-trailer’s fuel tank, igniting a fire that quickly consumed the vehicle. Immediate emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where Eastman was subsequently transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Fortunately, his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
Both the Chevrolet, registered to Marden’s Inc. of Winslow, and the tractor-trailer, owned by Eastman Transportation Inc., were completely totaled in the crash. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
