Carroll Harding, Beloved Winslow Resident, Passes Away at 89

WINSLOW – Carroll Harding, a cherished member of the Winslow community, passed away on April 28, 2025, at MGMC, surrounded by family. He was 89 years old and is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey Drake Harding, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born on February 28, 1936, in Albion, Maine, Carroll graduated from Besse High School in 1954 and earned a degree from Thomas College in 1956. He began his career at A.P. Wyman and served in the Army, primarily in Alaska, before returning to his work at the company. After its closure, he became the office manager at Cascade Woolen Mill.

In 1977, following the untimely death of his father, Carroll entered the milk transportation business, a venture he successfully managed until his retirement in 2000. Under his leadership, the business grew to a fleet of ten trucks, with his son Jeffrey joining the enterprise in 1988.

Carroll’s community involvement included roles in the Waterville Industrial Management Club and the United Way, as well as serving as treasurer and trustee for the Winslow Congregational Church.

Known for his quiet demeanor, Carroll was devoted to his family, spending quality time with his children and grandsons. He enjoyed gardening, home improvements, and recreational activities such as bridge and cribbage. Carroll and Audrey traveled extensively across the U.S. and Canada, creating lasting memories together.

A graveside service is scheduled for May 17, 2025, at Howard Cemetery in Winslow, followed by a reception at the Harding home. The family encourages all to “be kind” in tribute to Carroll’s legacy of compassion. Arrangements are managed by Gallant Funeral Home.
