Bangor Rams Advance to Regional Championship with Stellar Performance by Emma Tripp
BANGOR, ME – The Bangor Rams showcased their resilience in a nail-biting Class A North regional semifinal, defeating Camden Hills 1-0 on Saturday. With standout pitcher Emma Tripp on the mound, just one run proved sufficient for the Rams to secure their spot in Tuesday’s regional championship.
Tripp, who transferred from Belfast this season, demonstrated her dominance by throwing seven shutout innings, striking out five of the last six batters. “She’s a competitor through and through,” praised Bangor coach Sophia Sciarappa. “To pitch a whole game is tough, and she did a really good job.” Tripp, known for her endurance, consistently delivers high-performance outings, typically nearing 100 pitches each game.
The game’s only run materialized in the bottom of the fourth inning following a succession of strategic plays, beginning with a lead-off single by Sophie Lynch. Eva Coombs added to the momentum with a walk, and Gabby Raymond’s timely sacrifice bunt advanced both runners to scoring position. Sciarappa commended Raymond for executing this crucial play and highlighted the team’s preparation for such moments.
Victoria Jarnich then delivered the pivotal RBI groundout that clinched the win. Following the victory, Tripp reflected on the team’s collective effort, stating, “I’m just grateful. I wouldn’t want to do it with any other team.”
Bangor will face Edward Little in the championship after the Red Eddies’ dramatic extra-innings upset over Brewer. Coach Sciarappa expressed pride in her team’s journey, emphasizing their hard work over the past two years after last season’s struggles, where they only secured two victories. “I’m really, really proud of them,” she noted.
