Maine Celtics suffer defeat in G League Championship

The Maine Celtics faced a disappointing defeat on Monday as they were unable to secure the G League championship title, falling to the Oklahoma City Blue with a final score of 117-100 in Portland. Despite a strong performance by JD Davison, who scored 22 points for the Celtics, it was not enough to overcome the Blue’s dominant play led by Ousmane Dieng with 25 points.

Drew Peterson and Joe Wieskamp also contributed 13 points each for the Celtics, but ultimately it was the Blue who emerged victorious, claiming their first championship in franchise history. The Celtics, formerly known as the Maine Red Claws since their establishment in 2009, continue to pursue their first title.

The game marked the third and final match of the series, with the Blue maintaining a strong lead throughout and securing the win. Despite the loss, the Celtics showed determination and resilience throughout the game, fighting hard until the final buzzer.

The Maine Celtics may have fallen short in their championship quest, but they have proven themselves as worthy competitors in the G League. With a talented roster and dedicated coaching staff, the Celtics will no doubt continue to strive for success in future seasons.
